The core of the preschool day occurs in the morning hours, from 8:00am to 12:30pm. We enjoy our circle time first thing every morning, which includes our greetings, morning messages, calendar time, weather graph, letter of the week, theme connections, and learning time of math and literacy skills. This is always followed up with a group learning experience in the core curriculum areas.
In between our group learning experiences, which are teacher-directed, we enjoy lots of self-directed play times here at Advantage Preschool in Ann Arbor during each "plan, work, recall" section. During this time, each child gets to plan his or her own "work" in the various areas or interest centers set up by the teacher. After our "work" time, we clean up and then recall what our plan was and what work we carried out during work time. The "plan, work, recall" or what is sometimes referred to as "plan, do, review" is a core piece of the High Scope preschool curriculum.
Please realize that the more consistent your child is in attending, the more they will take away from the program.
